Only extended support to JJP, have not joined outfit: Balkaur Singh

In a U-turn, the SAD's lone legislator in Haryana, Balkaur Singh said Tuesday he did not join the recently floated Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), but had only extended his support to the outfit.

JJP's patron Ajay Singh Chautala told reporters that Balkaur Singh had joined the outfit at his residence in Kalanwali in Sirsa district on Sunday, from where he is the legislator.

Balkaur Singh, the 50-year-old MLA from Kalanwali (SC) seat, was presented with a JJP flag by Ajay Chautala while being welcomed to the outfit's fold on Sunday.

On the occasion, Balkaur Singh had said that he was always impressed with the ideals and principles of Ajay Chautala's grandfather and former deputy prime minister Devi Lal.

However, on Tuesday, he said, "I had only extended my support to the JJP because it was following ideals of Devi Lal. I did not join the party."
But showing complete belief in the legislator, JJP state unit president Nishan Singh said, "Balkaur Singh has shown full faith in leadership of Ajay Singh Chautala and has joined our political struggle."
