OPGS Power Gujarat Private Limited will commission its Rs 1,855 crore 300 MW coal-based power plant this month at Bhadreswar in Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gujarat, a company official today said.
"The 300 MW coal fired power plant of the OPGS Power Gujarat will be inaugurated in Bhadreswar in Kutch by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on February 28," Managing Director of OPGS Power Generation Private Limited, Arvind Gupta said.
The work on the mega project was started three years ago and around 300 acre land was acquired from private owners in Kutch, he said.
This 300 MW power plant in Bhadreswar is the first OPG venture in Gujarat. The power player already has a plant in Tamil Nadu, Gupta said.
The total cost of the project is Rs 1855 crore with equity capital of Rs 464 crores, he added.
Gujarat has a climate to set up the industry as there is a good coordination between bureaucracy and the heads of the government, he said.
According to Gupta, OPG Power is also considering to install another Rs 15,000 crore power plant in Gujarat in near future, which will be based on renewable or coal.
OPGS Power Gujarat is a subsidiary of the UK-based power player OPG Power Ventures Plc.
OPG Power Ventures has established 750 MW of capacity in India through its Indian subsidiaries including OPGS Power Gujarat, a statement of the company said.
