Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today sought clarification from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over presence of 'tainted' ministers in the state cabinet.
Seeking to raise the issue through an adjournment notice, Leader of the Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said there were 12 criminal cases against a minister of state.
"Has he been inducted as a reward for his deeds," Vikhe Patil said.
"There is an inquiry in progress by SIT against another minister... Another minister's name figures in CBI probe," he added.
The chief minister should clarify on these issues, Vikhe Patil said, adding that a wrong message is going out with the induction of these ministers.
Speaker Haribhau Bagde did not admit the adjournment notice, which prompted opposition members to rush to the well and shout slogans against the government.
The House was adjourned twice amid noisy scenes.
Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said the charges made by Vikhe Patil were serious in nature and warranted a clarification by Fadnavis.
The Speaker, however, rejected the suggestion, saying Vikhe Patil has not named any minister and as such there was no need for Fadnavis to clarify.
Later talking to reporters outside the House, Vikhe Patil said the 'tainted' ministers Ravindra Chavan, Jaykumar Rawal and Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar should be dismissed.
While names of Rawal and Nilangekar figure in CBI and CID chargesheets, Chavan has made objectionable statement about Dalits. Such people should not remain in ministry and should be dismissed, he said.
