Union Minister Shripad Naik today alleged that instead of supporting the Centre's decision to scrap high value currency notes, opposition parties were busy taking advantage of the situation post demonetisation.
"Opposition parties are protesting against demonetisation from day one. They are still doing the same just for the sake of it. We admit that people are still facing some problems in getting cash. But, the situation has improved a lot in the last one month," Naik told reporters here.
The Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) was in the city to inaugurate 'Ayush India Expo-2016', an exhibition of ayurvedic and natural products.
"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought support of citizens as well as of opposition on the issue. However, instead of extending their support, opposition leaders are busy taking advantage of the situation. Instead of dousing the fire, they are adding fuel to it," he said.
He was referring to 'Black Day' against demonetisation organised in Parliament yesterday by opposition parties led by Congress.
When asked about the problems being faced by common people in withdrawing money from banks and ATMs, Naik claimed that the situation would soon improve.
"The situation has improved a lot in the recent times as new currency notes are being printed and sent to banks. Our PM has sought 50 days time from us. I firmly believe that the situation will be normal well before that deadline," said Naik.
