 "OPPO appoints Mike Wang as India CEO")
Chinese handset maker OPPO today said it had appointed Mike Wang as its new CEO for Indian operations.
The appointment is effective from August 18, 2015.
Wang joined OPPO in 2005 in its initial years and has held a wide range of leadership positions across South-East Asian markets, OPPO said in a statement.
"I have good sight and perception of the business, its challenges and varied cultures. Indian mobile market is growing exponentially and is the top priority in our expansion plans for South Asia region this year," Wang said.
Wang replaces Tom Lu, who was CEO since the company's entry into India, is now moving on to a bigger role globally.
In the current role, Mike will be responsible for building strong marketing, sales and service centers network for the brand in India and achieve the company's vision to be a leader in the Indian market, the statement said.
OPPO, which entered the Indian market in January 2014, has sold around 400,000 devices in India and is targeting to sell 1.5 million units in 2015.
The appointment is effective from August 18, 2015.
