Though they openly criticised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his alleged inability to speak in Odia language, senior BJP leaders today switched over to Hindi and English while addressing the party's "Mahasangram Samabesh" here.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, while addressing the rally in presence of BJP president Amit Shah, preferred to used Hindi language.
Oram himself gave explanation to the gathering by saying that he was forced to speak in Hindi in order to make the language understandable to Chief Minister. "Let me speak the language of the chief minister. He (Patnaik) should understand what we are speaking about him and his government," Oram said.
In fact, though Oram speaks clear Odia and tribal language.
Taking a cue from Oram, BJP state president K V Singhdeo also used both English and Hindi in his speech. He too like Oram attributed the reason for not using Odia language, to the chief minister.
"As Jual Oramji said I am also speaking in English and Hindi as the chief minister is comfortable in these languages," Singhdeo said adding that though Patnaik remained the chief minister of Odisha for over 14 years, he was yet to speak in the state's language.
However, the gathering at the rally, were of the view that the duo used Hindi and English languages in their speech for their party president Amit Shah, who hailed from Gujarat.
