Outsider's perspective helped me on 'Crimson Man': Dehlvi

Farhad Ahmed Dehlvi, who recently bagged the best cinematographer award at the Asian on Films Festival for his work on the critically-acclaimed short "A Crimson Man", said his outsider's perspective helped him understand film's subject better.
The Delhi-born Dehlvi was awarded for his camera work in the film, which is inspired by the work of legendary writer Phillip K Dick.
The film, directed by Mike Pappa, is narrated through the gaze of a young boy and touches up themes of war and technology.
"When I started shooting in Los Angeles in 2012, I realised that my outsider's perspective gave me a unique insight into American culture, into the psyche of characters, and into the story I was filming," Dehlvi said when asked about his win.

"I soon recognised that this was something to be valued, and over time, this insight has helped shape my narrative voice," he added.
The two-day festival, which promotes Asian and Asian-American cinema, was held on January 26 and 27.
