Over 145 cartons of illicit liquor seized in NCR

With Holi round the corner, over 145 cartons of illicit liquor was seized in Yamuna area of the city in the past 24 hours, police said today.
Policemen on patrolling duty yesterday spotted a vehicle in Jwala Nagar and challenged its driver to stop, but he escaped leaving behind a huge quantity of illicit liquor, DCP(Shahdara), Nupur Prasad, said.
"On checking of vehicle, it was found loaded with total 145 cartons containing 7250 quarters (for sale in Haryana only) of liquor," Prasad said.
Another police patrol caught a man carrying in Seemapuri, from whom 83 quarter of liquor (for sale in Haryana only) was seized.

The bootleger was identified as Zakir and was arrested by the police, they said.
In the third catch, Mansarovar Park Police caught a man identified as Wasim near Shahadara railway line, carrying a plastic bag. It contained 16 bottles of illegal liquor.
The accused was arrested, said the officer.
