"A total number of 1,485 Muslims are scheduled to fly to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from Indore between August 17 and August 27 for the Haj pilgrimage. Thereafter, 1,260 devotees will fly from Bhopal between August 28 and September 5," MP Haj Committee (MPHC) Chairman Inayat Hussain Qureshi told reporters here.
Around 150 Muslims from the state will leave for Haj from Nagpur on August 25 -26, he added.
"Besides, an additional quota for 162 Haj pilgrims has been cleared by the state government," Qureshi said adding that with this more than 3,000 devotees are scheduled to go on Haj yatra.
He said that the quota of Haj pilgrims in MP was based on the 2001 Census, adding that it should be decided on the basis of 2011 Census, so that more Muslims can visit the holy places.
