According to Delhi government's statistics, a total of 434 people were apprehended by Delhi Police in 395 cases and 1,03,551 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered between April one and November six. Police have also seized 233 vehicles.

Last year during the same period, 311 people were arrested and 54,138 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered.

"The Excise Intelligence Bureau, a unit of the Delhi Excise Department, have taken strong action against unlicensed premises where liquor is being served without procuring valid permit from the Excise department," a statement said.

Keeping in view the forthcoming festival, marriage season and New Year celebration, it said, the EIB has intensifying its action to book the violators of the Delhi Excise Act.

"The Excise Department of Delhi advises the people of Delhi to obtain P-10 or P-10 A permit to serve the liquor in their celebrations," it said.
