About 840 kg of tobacco products, including gutka, banned in the state, were seized from a vehicle which arrived here from Bengaluru, police said.

The seizure was made by Food Safety Department officials from a mini-van parked at Raja Street following a tip-off, police added.

The value of the tobacco products seized is being assessed, they said.

As the van driver fled the scene, a person in the vehicle was apprehended and interrogations were on, police said.
