PA to MD of Heera Group of Companies held

A 50-year-old woman was Thursday nabbed in connection with investigations into a case against the Managing Director of the Heera Group of Companies, who was recently arrested for allegedly cheating investors of several crores of rupees, the police said.

Central Crime Station, a wing of Hyderabad Police, collected evidence from different sources and found substantial evidence against Molly Thomas, managercum-personal assistant to the MD Nowhera Shaik, deputy commissioner of police (detective department) Avinash Mohanthy said in a release.

Nowhera Shaik was arrested last month.

Molly Thomas is the key person to the group's central office situated at Banjara Hills here and also looked after the administration work of its branch offices on direction of Nowhera Shaik, the DCP said.

The group having as many as 74 branches across India and also abroad had engaged about 430 marketing agents in their branches for collecting deposits from investors, he said.

Hyderabad Police earlier saidNowhera Shaikheaded 15 companies, part of the Heera Group, many of which were involved in collection of deposits and investments.

The accused offered depositors higher interest rates and gave the returns for a few months and subsequently "stopped", police had said.
