Del Toro took to Twitter to offer the update, reported Ace Showbiz.
The director wrote, "PACIFIC RIM 2: Budget and script went in. No answers yet. If anything happens, I will post. If nothing happens, I will just keep rambling."
Earlier this month, Del Toro told fans that the budget for the "Pacific Rim" sequel was ready and he was waiting on a script from John Spaihts ("Prometheus").
The "Crimson Peak" director added, "Then [it] is up to the studios to give it a green light."
Del Toro assured fans that the project was not cancelled.
"We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks. As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it."
He added that the film's delay was only temporary.
