Pak assures Afghanistan its soil won't be used against Kabul

A high-level Pakistan Army delegation today visited Afghanistan and assured Kabul that it will not allow its soil to be used to destabilise the neighbouring country.
The delegation headed by Chief of General Staff Lt General Bilal Akbar visited on the direction of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and conveyed condolences over the loss of more than 100 lives in the last week's attack, Pakistan Army said.
Over 100 soldiers were killed when at least 10 Taliban terrorists in army uniforms stormed a military base in Mazar- i-Sharif last week.
The delegation met Afghanistan's acting Defence Minister Tariq Shah Bahramee and Afghan Army Chief General Muhammad Sharif Yaftali and offered treatment of those injured in the attack.
It also expressed solidarity with the Afghan forces and people, the army said.
Pakistan assured Afghananistan that it has control over all areas on the Pakistani side of the border and would not allow its soil to be used against Kabul, it said.
"Terrorists are a common threat and shall be defeated," it said.
The two sides also discussed bilateral border coordination measures to improve the security on the border.
Meanwhile, Pakistan army said today that it conducted targeted air strikes in Rajgal Valley of northwestern Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa province after credible intelligence regarding movement of terrorists from Nangarhar province of Afghanistan into the Valley.
"Many (militants) were killed (and) a few others were injured. The Injured fled back. Some hideouts were destroyed," it said.
