Protests were held in some parts of the city and other places after Pakistan team lost to South Korea in the semifinals of the Asia Cup yesterday.
The loss meant that for the first time since 1971, when the World Cup was instituted, Pakistan will not be among its participating nations.
In Azam Basti here around 300 women and children took out a protest march in which the women advised the players to wear bangles instead of playing hockey.
"I think it would be better if these players wear bangles now after the way they have shamed us in the Asia Cup," said Rabia, a housewife.
In Lahore, angry fans demanded that the Prime Minister immediately sack the Pakistan Hockey Federation officials and players and bring in a new set up which can rebuild the team.
