Pakistan Naval ship to visit Sri Lanka

A Pakistani Naval ship will arrive here tomorrow for a three-day goodwill visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with Sri Lanka.
PNS Shamsheer's visit is a manifestation of the strong, diplomatic, economic, cultural and defence ties between the two friendly countries, a Pakistani diplomat said.
"As part of goodwill, Pakistan Navy ships frequently pay port calls to Sri Lanka. These visits are aimed at further strengthening the existing strong relationship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan."
PNS Shamsheer is Zulfiqar class frigate built jointly by China and Pakistan and commissioned by Pakistan Navy in January 2010.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have strong defence ties and both Navies engage in multifaceted cooperation, he said.
Pakistan Navy provides a number of conventional training courses to Sri Lankan Navy personnel, while Sri Lankan Navy shares its experience and expertise with regard to anti-terrorism operations at sea.
