Pakistani court bars govt from deporting Indian man

A Pakistani court has barred the government from deporting the Indian husband of a woman who contended that their children would be deprived of a father if he is sent back.
Rabia Jahangir filed a petition in the Lahore High Court yesterday, saying she married Indian national Zafar Riaz in 2005 and they had two children.
Authorities have refused to extend Riaz's visa and directed him to leave Pakistan by December 14.
Jahangir said if her husband was not allowed to live with his family in Pakistan, their marriage would be in danger and the children would be deprived of their father.

She asked the court to stop the government from deporting her husband and to direct authorities to provide him a permanent residence visa.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan passed an order restraining the federal government from taking any action against Riaz till the next hearing of the case on December 20. He also asked the government to respond to Jahangir's petition.
Jahangir said, "We have two children and my husband's business in India collapsed and he has no family there to support him financially. My husband has been living with me in Pakistan after getting a residential permit.
"However, the government has denied further visa to him and the Foreigners Registration Officer, on November 29, 2013, ordered him to leave Pakistan by December 14.
