Panaji bypoll: Candidates watch Indo-Pak match before counting

With less than 24 hours left for counting of votes for the Panaji Assembly seat by-election, the candidates tried to unwind after a hectic poll process by watching the India-Pakistan World Cup match on television.
The polling for the Panaji seat, which fell vacant following resignation of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, was held on Friday. The counting of votes will begin tomorrow at 8 AM.
"I caught the second innings of the match. I finished meeting with the workers and took out time to see the match," BJP candidate Siddharth Kuncolienkar told PTI.
Kuncolienkar earlier holding meetings with party workers to predict the result, based on the polling pattern.

"I also called up voters individually thanking them for being with me. I am sure that we will win due to blessings of the people and systematic campaign by party workers," Kuncolienkar said.
Congress candidate Furtado also took out time to watch the cricket match.

"I held meetings with workers on Friday. We have reviewed the polling pattern," said Furtado.
"The election campaign was hectic. Tomorrow again I will be having a busy day due to counting. So this (watching cricket match) is the best way to unwind," he said.
Meanwhile, Independent candidate Sameer Kelekar spent time with his family in Margao.

"I am a big cricket fan. But I will prefer to stay away from TV. The campaigning was really exhausting. I want to chill out," he said.
