A panchayat head was Friday arrested in connection with religious conversion through allurement and pressure, the police said here.
The Todai Panchayat Mukhia (head), Emmanuel Murmu, was arrested at Hiranpur in Pakur district, they said.
The arrest came following an FIR by one Pramila Marandi of Todai Panchayat, accusing Murmu and two of his associates of exerting pressure and allurement to convert her to christianity, Police Inspector Virendra Pandey said.
He said that the FIR was lodged under Jharkhand Freedom of Religion Act, 2017.
The other two accused will be arrested soon, he said.
