"The Ramlila programme organised by the Society would be entering its 139th year this time and is the oldest one here. But the ground doesn't have a permanent stage for the purpose," President of Parade Ramlila Society and Editorial Director of the Jagran Group, Mahendra Mohan Gupta said.
The Parade Ramlila Society has been asking the district authorities to allow construction of a permanent stage and the cost would be borne by the Society itself, he said, adding it could also be used for other festivities irrespective of religion.
He also demanded that potholes on the roads and street lights be repaired before the Ramlila event next month.
Preparations for Vijayadashami Mahotsav would begin tomorrow with the recital of 'Ramkatha' which would go on till October 4. From October 12 to 22, Ramlila would be staged at the Ramlila grounds and display of fireworks would take place on Dussehra.
