Parliamentary panel to visit Ludhiana

A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Technology, Environment and Forest, headed by Rajya Sabha MP, Ashwani Kumar will visit Ludhiana tomorrow.
The committee comprises 30 Members of Parliament from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
In Ludhiana, the committee members would visit two points on the Budha Nullah, besides holding meetings with some NGOs and government officials on air, water and noise pollution in the city, haphazard urbanisation, solid waste management, sewerage treatment etc, an official release said.
The committee would also discuss issues related to pollution, reducing land fertility due to excessive use of fertilisers, housing, sanitation, water supply, sewerage and other civic facilities so that a tangible developmental plan could be chalked out for the overall development of Ludhiana, it said.
Harbir Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), informed that upon their arrival, the committee members would visit two points along the Budha Nullah behind Ayurvedic College near Haibowal and near Haibowal Dairy Complex.
