"Nitish Kumar is not sincere about winning special category status for Bihar...He is merely playing politics in the name of special status," Paswan told reporters.

The LJP chief, who returned to the state capital after completing first phase of his "Bihar Bachao" campaign, questioned CM as to why he had not called an all party meeting to remove problems coming in the way of the demand.

"When the CM has not taken its ally BJP on board in the campaign (for special status) where does the question of involving other parties in the process arise," he added.

Youth Congress President Lalan Kumar had also in a statement recently demanded an all party meeting on the issue.

Paswan said while Kumar was claiming all round development of Bihar under his regime, the national statistics show that the state was lagging behind in all sectors.

"The false claims of (development) of the CM is posing problem in winning special category status for Bihar," he alleged.

The Chief of LJP, which is in alliance with main opposition RJD of Lalu Prasad in Bihar, said during first phase of his campaign he visited Hajipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui and claimed to have drawn tremendous support of the people.

He alleged that while gangrape of a girl in Delhi created furore across the country many such cases go unreported in the state.

The LJP President, the lone member of Parliament (in both houses) from the party presently, claimed that people have made up their mind to change the JD(U)-BJP rule and were waiting for an opportune time.
