Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett says film industry is not the only place where pay disparity exists as women everywhere are facing this problem.
The "Elizabeth" star was in India to be a part of the "Women In The World" summit.
"Filmmaking is not the only industry where there is disparity with regards to salary. Women at Google are experiencing the same thing. Even female journalists are going through this," she said while addressing a jam-packed gathering moderated by Tina Brown here.
Prominent stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Patricia Arquette and Meryl Streep have voiced their concern over pay disparity in Hollywood.
Blanchett also hosted a session on the refugee crisis in Syria where the four-year-old civil war has uprooted millions. When asked about her reaction, the actress said governments are not very forthcoming in helping the refugees.
"In recent times, many governments have had a backward reaction towards refugees. When I grew up in Australia it was all about multiculturalism but somehow now we are forgetting those ethos. We shouldn't forget that," she said.
She may be known for voicing her opinion on socio-political issues but Blanchett does not consider herself as a political person.
"I'm not a political animal by nature. I think art and culture are provocation but I don't see my roles as political ones. I choose my work based on the stimulation of the conversation rather being political," she said.
