"We seek support of people to change the corrupt and inefficient system. The credibility of National Conference-led coalition regime has reached at its lowest ebb because the masses have lost their faith on this dispensation due to its misdeeds," Mehbooba said addressing a convention of party workers of Jammu province here today.
"Prevailing anarchy and chaos in the state is result of the failure of the system," she said, adding that ruling National Conference always encouraged anarchy in the state.
The PDP president declared the year 2013 would one for consolidation of the party.
Mehbooba said the peace process initiated by the erstwhile government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an irreversible process, and the road-map laid by the party was the only way to establish sustainable peace in the region.
PDP patron and Mehbooba's father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, meanwhile, exhorted party workers to ensure that PDP becomes a force to unite all the regions and sub-regions of the state.
"PDP through its works has earned credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the masses are looking towards it to get their aspirations fulfilled," he told the party convention.
"Our politics is not aimed at attaining power only. We want to restore lasting peace in the region and to establish a system where every section of the society will get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth," Sayeed said.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh regretted that the present Congress-NC government has not only failed to carry forward the peace process but also wasted all the gains of the previous regime.
