The peak power deficit, shortfall in electricity supply when demand is the highest,  declined to 3.7 per cent last month from 4.4 per cent in October, mainly on account of weaker demand.

The power requirement during November was 137,620 megawatt (Mw) of which 132,530 Mw was met, leaving a shortfall of 5,090 Mw, according to official data by the Central Electricity Authority.

“Power demand during this time of the year (winter) usually goes down therefore the peak deficit declines,” an official said.
