The news was confirmed by creator Sam Bain, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"Peep Show series 9 started shooting yesterday," Bain tweeted.
"SPOILER ALERT it features these two idiots." The tweet was accompanied by a photograph of the BAFTA-winning show's stars Robert Webb and David Mitchell.
"Peep Show", which premiered on the British network Channel 4 in 2003, concerns the misbegotten adventures of two mutually-sabotaging roommates, Mark (Mitchell) and Jez (Webb).
Other show regulars have included Broadchurch star Olivia Colman as Mark's former partner Sophie, "The Leftovers" cast member Paterson Joseph, and Matt King, who plays the deranged Super Hans.
In September, 2013, Channel 4 head of comedy Phil Clarke announced that the ninth season of the show would also be the last.
