A notification of the Freedom Fighters Cell in the Secretariat here said that the Lt Governor had approved of the amendment to the Puducherry Freedom Fighter Pension rules-1970 facilitating the rise in pension paid to the freedom fighters here by Rs 1000.
The notification said that each of the freedom fighters would get Rs 8000 a month instead of Rs 7000 available so far.
The hike is effective from April this year, the notification said.
Department of Information and Publicity of Puducherry government said that the senior media persons in the Union Territory would get increased monthly assistance (pension benefits) by Rs 1500 with effect from April.
