Peon in ACB net for receiving Rs 2000 bribe

A peon with a marriage registration section in Thane Municipal Corporation was today caught red-handed for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for the issue of certificates.
According to Addl SP ACB- Thane Range- Srinivas Ghatge the complainant had made an application with the Marriage Registration office here for issuance of the certificate.
Salunke, attached to the Utalsar ward office's Marriage Registration section demanded Rs 2000 for issuing the certificate.

The peon and later lodged a complaint with the ACB.
Based on the complaint, ACB sleuths today laid a trap and nabbed the peon accepting the sum from the complainant at the ward office around noon, the SP said.
An offence under Prevention of corruption Act 1988 was registered and Salunkhe was arrested.
