Senior Congress leader Pradeep Mathur today said the people in Uttar Pradesh are looking for a change as he criticised SP and BSP for playing "caste politics" and said the divide and rule policy of BJP through "temple agenda" is nothing, but to get into power.
"While the people are fed up with the caste ridden policies of BSP and SP, they have now realised that divide and rule policy of BJP through temple agenda is nothing but to get the power", Mathur, leader of the Congress legislature party said.
He was speaking during the announcement of the programme of "Sattais Saal UP Behal Yatra" (UP worst hit during last 27 years), lead by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committe (UPCC) President Raj Babbar which will reach Mathura on September 27.
"Even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi is mostly on foreign tour, he has not been able to built International pressure on Pakistan", he said adding that the latest attack on army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir is an example of the failure of foreign policy of the Modi government.
He also criticised Modi forhis "unfulfilled" promises.
"Neither he has been able to control the price rise, in spite of down fall in international crude oil, nor he could bring black money from the abroad," he said.
Mathur elaborated the details of yatra passing through different parts of UP.
"While one Yatra is lead by National Vice President Rahul Gandhi, the other is lead by Congress Chief Ministerial candidate designate Shiela Dixit," hesaid.
He said that if Congress comes to power in the state, loans of farmers would be waved off, power terrif would be reduced to 50 per cent and "Samarthan Mulya" (rates of paddy etc) would be reconsidered.
