The general House meeting of the Phagwara Municipal Corporation today adopted a signed resolution, censuring Punjab Local Bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu for allegedly ignoring the mayor, senior deputy mayor, deputy mayor as well as the corporation during inauguration of car parking and auditorium on June 15 here.
The resolution was moved by BJP councilor Anurag Mankhand, officials said.
The meeting also condemned the floating tender of car parking without permission of the House, they said.
Mankhand said that the copies of the resolution would be sent to all concerned, including Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker.
Mayor Arun Khosla, who presided over the meeting, confirmed the development.
Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Singh Walia and Deputy Mayor Ranjit Singh Khurana were also present at the meeting.
Out of an effective strength of 49 councillors, 38 attended the meeting. The resolution was adopted by a majority vote of 27 SAD-BJP councillors present at the meeting, he said.
However, 10 Congress councillors present in the meeting opposed the resolution, according to Sanjiv Bugga, Congress councilor cum party's Block(urban) President.
The corporation is ruled by the SAD-BJP combine.
