Advocate H S Phoolka today criticised Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh for giving a "clean chit" to senior party leader Kamal Nath in connection with 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
"As Captain (Amarinder Singh) needs help from both Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler to get declared as Congress' chief ministerial candidate in Punjab, in a political desperation he is distributing clean chits to all tainted leaders," Phoolka said here.
Phoolka, an advocate for the victims of the 1984 riots, said giving clean chit to Nath by Amarinder is a "cruel joke" on Sikhs.
"We sacrificed everything to ensure justice for Sikhs, but Captain is trying to save the culprits to ensure he (gets the) chair," Phoolka alleged.
Yesterday Amarinder while referring to allegations against Nath here had said, "These are all politics...It is being played up politically and it is very unfair that they are trying to tarnish his (Nath's) image."
Phoolka also accused Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal of having "cordial relationship" with Nath and asked him to persuade the Modi-led Central government to probe his alleged role in the killing of Sikhs outside Rakab Ganj Gurdwara in 1984.
"There are ample evidences against Nath of his involvement in leading the mob to massacre Sikhs. So both Badal and Amarinder should ignore their personal equations with Nath to ensure justice to the Sikh community," said Phoolka.
