Picnic turns tragic as 3 employees of WNS drown in reservoir

Three men, on a picnic, drowned in the left canal of Pedderu reservoir in between Kothapalle and Ravipalem area this afternoon, police said.
The deceased worked for World Network Service (WNS), a business process management (BPM) firm in Vizag city.
A total of 10 people had come to the spot on bikes and three of them ventured into the waters around 3 pm. They immediately drowned in the canal, said V Madugula police station officials under whose jurisdiction the area falls.
The deceased were identified A Dileep Kumar (26), resident of Pedagantyada area in Vizag, M Nani (28), native of Sunkarametta area under Arakuvalley mandal and M Datta (26), native of Pune.
Sub-Inspector of V Madugula police station G Umamaheswara Rao said it seems the men failed to gauge the depth of the water which resulted in their drowning.
It took around one hour for the police and locals to fish out their bodies from the reservoir.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and bodies have been sent for autopsy.
In another incident in Vizag city, a second year B Sc student of a private college identified as BR Srikar (19) was swept away by the strong current while swimming on the RK Beach along with his friends.
The police have launched a search operation to trace him.
