The Gujarat High Court has issued notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) on a PIL seeking implementation of the Lodha committee's recommendations.
A division bench of Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi issued the notice yesterday, seeking replies by June 14.
The public interest litigation, filed by former Ranji player Rajesh Jadeja, also sought an independent audit of SCA's finances, alleging large-scale mismanagement and fraudulent transactions worth crores of rupees.
Family members of Niranjan Shah, former honorary secretary of SCA, held monopoly over the administration, and the funds given by BCCI to promote district-level cricket were being misused, the PIL said.
Jadeja wanted the high court to ask the BCCI to implement recommendations of the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee in their entirety, and appoint an independent auditor.
Niranjan Shah resigned as the secretary of SCA in January following the Lodha panel's recommendation that administrators should not be of more than 70 years old.
