The number of devotees paying obeisance at the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas today crossed the three-lakh mark even as the pilgrimage was resumed from Baltal route after remaining suspended for two days in the aftermath of the cloudburst.
"On the 26th day of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 4,746 yatris paid obeisance at the holy cave. Till date, 3,00,321 yatris had darshan of the ice lingam at the cave," a spokesman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said.
Meanwhile, the pilgrimage resumed from the shorter Baltal route today after the debris left behind by the cloudburst on Friday night, in which three persons including two children were killed and 19 others injured.
Governor N N Vohra, who is Chairman of the SASB, held a meeting at the Raj Bhavan to review the status of the ongoing Yatra, which commenced from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes on July 2.
