Satirical play, "Speed-the-Plow", originally starring Madonna about Hollywood movie business, will be adapted for the big screen.
David Mamet, the playwright of the Broadway production, confirmed the news, reported Deadline.
"I am delighted to be working with David Mamet on his insightful exploration of the characters he created in his play which is a classic expose of ambition in Hollywood.
"Mamet is a master at presenting timeless moral quandaries and audiences can look forward to a unique examination of the cost of doing business -- both in movies and in life," producer Irwin Winkler said.
Madonna starred in the original production in the late 1980s. Her character was later played by Alicia Silverstone in 2006 and Elisabeth Moss in 2008.
Last year, Lindsay Lohan assumed the role in a revival for London stage, marking her debut on West End.
The play follows two film producers who hope for the break of a lifetime when a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit.
A temporary secretary, however, threatens the project as she persuades them to dump the blockbuster in favor of a story which can only be described as box-office poison.
