PM likely to lay foundation stone at Amravathi on Oct 22

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate a new passenger terminal at the Tirupati airport and would lay the foundation stone for the new capital city of Amaravathi in Andhra Pradesh on October 22.
Announcing this at a press conference after meeting Modi here today, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the first phase of the new State capital is likely to be completed by 2018.
"The Prime Minister has agreed to come for the laying of foundation stone ceremony on October 22....We have also requested the Prime Minister to inaugurate a new terminal constructed by AAI at the cost of Rs 170 crore at Tirupati," the Chief Minister said.
Elaborating about the new capital city for Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said that it would be one of the best capital cities in the country meeting all international standards.
"The new capital city would be a 'blue and green capital' comprising water front for 20 to 25 kilometres... We are also contemplating water taxis as a mode of transport in the new city," Naidu added.
Adding features to Amaravathi, Naidu said that they were mulling over the inclusion of sports, education and entertainment in the city to make it a hub of activities.
Naidu also discussed about the Polavaram Multipurpose Irrigation Project, which is being executed as a central project by the Union government.
