Gujarat Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have refrained from making personal remarks targeting his father and ex-chief minister Madhavsinh Solanki.
Addressing a gathering at Dwarka today, the PM said, "When Madhavsinh Solankiji was the (Gujarat) CM, I recall front page advertisements -- 'CM coming to Jamnagar to inaugurate a water tank'. This is how narrow their concept of development was.
"We have come a long way since then and are looking at more all-round and extensive progress."
Solanki here said, "My father inaugurated a tank which was constructed to provide drinking water to 67 villages in the area through pipelines."
He asked Modi why the people of Saurashtra, north Gujarat and Kutch were facing problems in getting safe drinking water.
"Modi should have refrained from making such personal remarks and instead, concentrated on completing the construction of the Narmada canals to supply water to the thirsty people of Gujarat and farmers for irrigation," the Congress leader said.
