The Left party sought to underscore difference between army's surgical strikes and exploits of Israel army in Palestine, saying the context in which the two forces conducted their operations are entirely different and cannot be compared.
CPI national secretary D Raja also hit out at Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for giving credit to "RSS teachings" for the operation, saying his remark was "unbecoming" for a person holding a ministerial post.
Raja further accused BJP for "shamelessly exploiting" the strikes eyeing gains in forthcoming assembly polls, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, and charged the ruling party with dragging army into the controversy.
"Parrikar too gave credit to RSS teachings for the operation. It is deplorable and completely unbecoming of a Defence Minister," the Rajya Sabha member said.
Raja said Parrikar giving credit to RSS teachings for the operation along LoC also shows that the Sangh is "suffering from the guilt" of not having participated in freedom struggle.
Speaking during inauguration of three hydropower projects in Himachal Pradesh, Modi had yesterday likened the army's anti-terror surgical strikes to Israel's exploits and said the Indian forces have shown they are no less than any other force.
