Police arrests smugglers, seize arms, ammunition and liquor

Police today arrested four smugglers and seized arms and ammunition, liquor bottles and Rs 7.86 lakh in cash from them in Bihar's Nalanda district.

Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Porika said that police seized five country-made pistols, 101 live cartridges of 32 bore, six bottles of foreign liquor and Rs 7.86 lakh in cash from the possession of the four arrested smugglers.

Acting on a tip off, a police team led by sub-divisional police officer Nishit Priya raided a house and seized three country made pistols besides 101 live cartridges and Rs 1.86 lakh in cash.

Police arrested the house owner and based on his statement netted three other smugglers.

On the basis of information gathered during interrogation from the smugglers, police are conducting raids to nab two others, including the kingpin of the gang, SP said.
