Accused Dinesh (28) and Nazmul Arfin (32) have been arrested in connection with two cases of cheating by impersonating as Customs officials for the release of the consignments of the victims from Customs office at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, said Sanjay Bhatia, DCP(IGI).
The IGI police received two complaints from Tejinder Pal Singh and Rajesh Kumar today alleging cheating by the accused impersonating as Customs officials and taking money from them to get seized goods cleared.
The complaints later met the accused who introduced themselves to Rajesh Kumar as Inspector RK Tawade and to Tejinder Pal Singh as Inspector Sujeet Kumar working with Customs department, said the officer.
The duo allegedly won confidence of the complainants by refusing to accept any advance money but later took Rs 10 lakh from Rajesh and Rs 5.57 Lakh from Tejinder, he said.
