The accused, identified as Waris (24), Tariq Hussain (21) and Lakhan (21), were part of a band which had styled itself the 'Gang of Tahirpur', police said.
Police said they received information about the trio's plan yesterday to assemble near Sarai Kale Khan ISBT and laid a trap to nab them.
"Goods worth Rs 4 lakh have been recovered from their possession. We are interrogating the accused about the hideouts of their accomplices," police said, adding that the trio was last Friday involved in an attempted carjacking in which they had targeted a taxi.
According to police, posing as passengers, the gang members would hire taxis which they would then seize after threatening the driver at gunpoint.
"They would throw the driver out of the vehicle at a lonely place and decamp with the vehicle. The vehicles would then be used to commit other crimes," said a senior police officer.
