A police constable's 35-year-old brother was allegedly killed by naxals in Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh, police said today.

The victim, identified as Ramsai Dhruv, was abducted and killed by naxals after holding a jan adalat (kangaroo court) near Jharawahi village in Abhujmad area on March 9, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla told PTI.

"However, the incident came to light yesterday when the victim's family lodged a complaint in this connection with Kurusnar police station," he added.

As per the report, a group of armed naxals had abducted Dhruv from his village Jharawahi, located around 350 kms away from the capital, on March 9 this year, he said.

"Subsequently, the ultras held a jan adalat, where they brutally hacked him to death after thrashing him badly in front of villagers," he said.

A case has been registered in this connection, the SP said adding that further probe into the case is on.

Naxal violence in Bastar division, which comprises seven districts, has seen a rise this monthwith several killings by ultras reported at several places.

Last night, a villager was axed to death in Sukma district of the state.

On the night of March 9, two villagers were beaten to death by naxals in Aadnar village of the state's Kondagaon district.

In the wee hours on the same day, the naxals killed a road contractor and torched four machines engaged in road construction work in Bijapur district.
