Police today lathi charged a group of former SSB volunteers here when they dismantled barricades, scuffled with them and forcibly tried to march to Parliament street.
The SSB volunteers were holding protest at Jantar Mantar since August 1 without permission and were asked to vacate the place, said Braj Kishor, DCP(New Delhi).
"All of a sudden today they marched to Parliament Street police station, dismantled barricades and scuffled with policemen resulting in injuries to some personnel. A mild lathi-charge was resorted to bring the situation under control in which a few of them were injured. We will take legal action in the matter," the DCP said.
The ex-SSB volunteers from border states are demanding employment and pension, since August this year.
The ex-SSB volunteers claimed that many including women sustained serious injuries in the lathi-charge.
