Police said a section of the large number of DMK workers, who gathered outside the Principal District Sessions Court, attempted to tear a flex board of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa put up by her partymen near the court complex and started indulging in violence by pelting stones.
They later clashed with the police, who made a lathcharge and brought the situation under control, police said adding two journalists present there got injured when hit by the stones.
When the matter came up today, the Judge posted the matter to January 6, 2014 for further hearing.
Public Prosecutor A. Arokiam, who filed the petition on behalf of the government, has charged Stalin with making sarcastic and defamatory comments against Jayalalithaa.
Later talking to reporters, Stalin asserted DMK men were prepared to face any number of "false cases".
"But the DMK people are ready to face any case," he added.
