Incidentally, a police officer attached to the same police station had allegedly committed suicide last year.
Police sources said that sub-inspector I Prabhakar Reddy, posted at Kuknoorpally police station in Sidipet district, shot himself with his service revolver at his official quarters near the police station at around 1 pm.
He had left the police station suddenly. When his colleagues heard the gunshot, they rushed to his house and found him lying dead in a pool of blood.
Reasons for the suicide were not clear yet, sources added.
Prabhakar Reddy hailed from Tangaturu in Yadadri District. He is survived by parents, wife and a three-month-old son.
With his family alleging that he was facing harassment by senior officials, Sidipet police commissioner Shiv Kumar said all angles of the case would be probed.
