Police officer suspended for role in tax evasion

A station house officer (SHO) posted at a police station here was suspended today after he was found guilty of helping in tax evasion, police said.
In an investigation, Baljit Singh, who was posted at Moonk police station here was found allowing trucks to pass through the Moonak sales tax collection centre without paying tax.
Role Singh had come to light when a truckload carrying iron pipes was seized by police four days back, they said.
SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said Superintendant of Police Sharanjit Singh has been asked to conduct a departmental probe into the matter.
