The incident took place on Monday when a coastal patrol team was on duty on a speed boat and saw a man drowning in the creek, while some onlookers also raised an alarm, a press note issued by the Thane police said.
The team then rushed to the spot and rescued him.
According to primary investigations, the man, a resident of Bhayander, tried to take the extreme step after having a dispute with his family.
