As many as 18 commandos had been specially trained for strengthening security and more commandos would be trained soon, district police superintendent Rajendra Prasad said in a release here.
They would be deployed round the clock in two shifts, attending to law and order problems, road traffic problems, VIP security and for anti-Naxal operations.
The commandos would be equipped with modern weapons including AK-47, INSAS rifles, SLR cameras, bullet-proof helmet and jacket, body protector and other ammunition.
The four Cheetha vehicles to be introduced would have Public Address system, siren, warning lights and walkie-talkies. Plans had also been chalked out to introduce 15 surveillance cameras at Udupi, Karkala and Kundapur.
