Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sunil Gupta has asked cops to keep a vigil over the activities of terrorists along the border in the district.
"Akhnoor is adjacent to the IB and the LoC. Directions were given to policemen to keep a vigil over the activities of anti-national elements (ANE) and check them from sneaking in from across the border, and conduct joint nakas in association with agencies managing border security," he said.
He was speaking while reviewing the performance of police stations in Akhnoor sub-division of the district.
He also advised the police stations' staff to patrol on foot in their respective jurisdictions especially on highways and make the beat system stronger to avoid crime and other incidents.
In view of the upcoming Baisakhi and Jammu Festival celebrations, the officers from sub-division and city south were directed to remain extra vigilant and put nakas on high alert to keep a close watch over the activities of anti- national and anti-social elements, he said.
Jammu-Poonch National Highway passes through the Sub- Division Akhnoor and a special focus was being given to crime and incidents pertaining to highway, he said and directed officers to adopt preventive measures for such crimes.
The SSP took serious note of the case files of heinous offences and directed the Investigating Officers (IOs) for speedy disposal of the cases assigned to them.
