Police used force today to disperse scores of students agitating in front of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission demanding scrapping of CSAT from the provincial civil services examination.
They also appealed to the state government to postpone the exam scheduled on August 4.
At least three students were injured in the alleged cane-charge by the police.
Hundreds of students gathered under the banner of 'Bhrashtachar Mukti Morcha' outside the UPPSC office here this morning.
They charged the ruling Samajwadi Party government in the state with adopting "double standards" as it was "opposing C-SAT in the Union Public Service Commission but continuing with the system in the state".
They also raised slogans demanding that Preliminary exam scheduled for August 4 be deferred and a fresh date be announced after scrapping the controversial C-SAT.
The police used force after some of the agitating students rushed towards officials of the UPPSC while they were coming out of the office after completion of office hours.
Policemen deployed in the area resorted to 'lathi-charge' to quell the agitators and some of them received minor injuries. Later, some agitators vandalised a state roadways bus a few hundred metres away.
The situation was, however, brought under control after the agitators dispersed from the area.
